HOWEVER, if you have a valid prescription for it, you really have nothing to worry about. Most likely not.

Oh, I have to l you this too.the drug book I am looking at does mention that the time frame given is an estimate.not everyone will metabolize the drug the same and at the same rate. But 50 hours is the maximum amount mentioned.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.

Oh, another thing to remember is that Klonopin is a slow acting Benzo unlike drugs like Xanax and Ativan which work much faster but wear off much faster. Klonopin takes longer for the meds to be metabolized (18-50 hours) where other drugs like Xanax's half life is 12-15 hours. Xanax is more of a 'rescue' drug, where Klonopin is more of a stability drug.

Thank you for such an interesting question.

I'm sure they will appreciate the honesty. If you are needing more, talk to the Dr and be honest with them and l them the dosage you are on now isn't working. Main thing is, try to not abuse the drug and only take what is prescribed. No, I seriously doubt they could l how much you took a week ago.

Ask an Expert, Get an Answer ASAP! Hello there.

I didn't get the feeling you were talking about a pre-employment drug screen or I would have asked you how long you had been on the medication, because this will have an impact on how long it will take your system to clear out the drug compley also. There is some debate, even among Pharmacist, who say even after the life of the drug has ended, these slow-acting Benzo's take a little longer to clear the system than other Benzo's, especially if you have been on it for a while. To add to my last post.it doesn't sound like you are trying to bluff a drug test (hope not anyway) for employment.sounds like you are more concerned about taking too many of the prescribed medication.Klonopin in this case.

Hi there. So, about 2-3 days.according Mosby's. However, according to Mosby's Drug Guide (a book we nurses use in school), the half life (or how long it takes the medicine to "wear off") is anywhere from 18-50 hours. You will find confusing information about this all over the internet.

24 hours after that is is half of that and so on. Klonopin's half life (or how long the drug's ability to 'do it's job' is cut by half) is anywhere from 18-50 hours (this is where the confusion comes in for most folks).you really have to take an average of the the 18-50 hours.let's say 24 hours to be easy to understand. If you took 2mg one day, then 24 hours later (on the average we used), the strength is half that. Here's the deal.

Suggested diagnosis was what I hoped and will take this info to my doctor's appointment next week. I feel better already! Thank you.
